Surrendered twice now, this young girl is ready for a stable home. She has gorgeous medium length deep black fur, soft to the touch. She is playful and loves toys. She will chase small animals if given the opportunity. Gracie is dog social and can get along with other dogs. We strongly encourage supervision regardless to ensure everyone behaves. She will guard her food so feeding time and treat times need to managed. (Because of her tendency to guard food, we are recommending an adult only home.) It is taking her time to get used to us at VBACAC. Lots of treats and little to no petting. Slowly she is learning she can trust  us. By the end of our first meeting, she was leaning on me for pets and treats. Today was a whole new day though and we had to start from the beginning.  It will take time for her to learn to trust you. Patience. Space. Remember this will carry over to your friends who are not her friends. She will need to be managed around new people so she can be given time to learn to trust them. It's a process and it will not happen overnight. In the meantime, there is no need to push. Let her proceed at her own pace and we know she will give that unconditional love in her own time. Gracie is currently in our big dog adoption kennel so come on in to meet her and bring any resident dog for a meet and greet. (With another dog, please remember supervision is vital.)
