Being a Border Collie mix, she is high energy and requires mental and physical stimulation. More than your average dog! They stated she is very sweet and loves soft toys. Sleeps well in a crate with her toy. Loves apples and carrots. Would do best with a large yard and appropriate training to give her an outlet for her intelligence and high energy. Previous write-up: PIPER – 1-5 years old, 47 pounds, nervous, needs time to warm up to new people She originally arrived as a stray and has been a bit worried in the shelter environment. We can't blame her. It can be scary for many dogs. Outside she startled easily and was almost overwhelmed by everything she was seeing…dogs, volunteers, ACO's, trucks, all new to her. At the same time, she seemed overwhelmed with all the smells she was encountering from so many past residents of the shelter. She did take treats from me, even sat for a few, which allowed me the opportunity to snag some photos of this pretty black and white girl. We are recommending a home without young children as she is wary of new people and head shy. We are looking for a patient family to take her in and allow her the time she needs to get used to a new family, home and routine. We are looking for an understanding family willing to let her proceed at her own pace.  Before then, if you think she was meant to be in your family, please come by any day between 12-5 pm to meet her. She is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see her, please just ask.
