Name:  Abril         Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua/Terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:   9 months as of Feb 2025          SEX:   female   Approximate Weight:  22lbs as of Feb 2025; still has a bit more to grow   Gets Along With:  Abril is good with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven’t seen Abril with cats, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!    We would be cautious placing Abril in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.    Currently Living at:  DC boarding, waiting for a foster or her forever home!   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Abril would do best with a resident dog.   Abril is Looking For:    Her forever home! Abril is not that long out of puppyhood and hasn’t seen nearly enough of the world yet. She’s eager to explore it by the side of her new family. Sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up – yes, please! She’d love to make new pup pals along the way. And to go to dog school so she can show how super smart she is! What My Foster Says About Me: This sweetie is outgoing and affectionate. Abril likes to interact with humans and children. She plays well with other dogs of various sizes. Abril is used to crates and seems to feel safe in the crate. She will sit next to you on the couch and show her affection. Abril enjoys relaxing on the deck and exploring. She has a lot of curiosity. She is small and travels well.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
