Critter Details
Amelia, who goes by Millie, is a 3.5- to 4-month-old black and tan shepherd puppy, littermate to Otte. Both pups found themselves at their community shelter, and thanks to volunteers who advocate for this rural shelter and transport volunteers, they arrived in our care on Thanksgiving weekend.A petite girl with lots of charm, energy, and curiosity, Millie is getting spayed this week. We expect her to charm the vet staff again as she did during her first vet visit after arriving in our care. Millie is terrific in her crate for naps and sleeping at night and rides nicely in the car crated. She easily transitioned to the care of our volunteers, who recently gave her a ride for her spay appointment, even pottying without any concerns when she needed to go into a new environment without hesitation. A confident puppy, she jumped into play with the resident shepherds at the home of her ride. Millie lives with an adult male shepherd in her foster home. With her family working from home, she gets lots of playtime and structure. Millie thrives with the companionship of her playmate, and her experienced fosters continue to guide her with expanding manners while giving her lots of love. Millie has excellent recall, a lovely sit and down, and nice leash skills already. She's very food-motivated and loves to please. Millie is a very energetic little girl; if she's not running, she's bouncing like a rabbit. She loves to hang out with the resident shepherd and, when possible, steal his favorite toy for a few nibbles of her own. She's started expanding her play to all sorts of toys, and her favorite so far is an octopus almost as big as she is.We love watching our foster pups blossom, and Amilia, aka Millie, shows us she's adorable with radar ears and is ready for harvest sitting in a pot. Lol. Millie's littermate, Otte, is in his own shepherd-experienced foster home, living with a senior shepherd, a few cats, horses and chickens on three acres. We ask adopters interested in Amelia to have experience with shepherds or similar herding or working breeds and the time and resources to commit to lots of love, structure, environmental exposure, and training. As a foster-based rescue, ShepHeroes is always in need of fosters. An overwhelming number of shepherds in our local shelters need our help for a fresh start. Would you be willing to share your home and part of your summer to help shepherds find new families? You provide the love, and we'll provide everything else! Saying "yes" today truly saves a life. Complete this https://www.shepheroes.org/foster-form, and we'll be in touch ASAP! We appreciate your consideration.
