LOCATION: Dayton, TXDOB: 03/02/2024Meet Amethyst (Ame), the Sweet and Silly Great DaneIntroducing Amethyst, affectionately known as Ame, a female dog with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Ame is great with other dogs, chickens, and children, making her a wonderful addition to any family. Her experience with cats is unknown, so a cat-free home might be best.Ame is still working on her house training, but she’s making great progress and rarely leaves any surprises. She sleeps in her “little home” (kennel) and will bark to let you know when she needs to go out, usually around 5 AM.When Ame first arrived at her foster home, she was very emaciated and was free-fed to help her gain weight. Now, if her bowls are empty, she’ll flip them with her paw and try to bring them to you as a gentle reminder.Ame loves spending time outdoors with her foster mom and enjoys helping carry things, even if they’re too big for her. She’s a bit impatient and likes to take the lead in their carrying duties. During her lazy times, Ame prefers a soft throw rug or blanket to lie on. She’s not very interested in toys or stuffies but loves throw blankets, which she enjoys gnawing on, bringing to you, or pulling off the couch for herself.Ame didn’t enjoy being in her kennel during the 4th of July fireworks and wanted to be with her foster family. She loves to snuggle and take naps with her two-legged family members. While she’s not a fan of leashes, she will walk on one if necessary, though she prefers to walk by herself.With her long legs, Ame can be a bit clumsy, often making her foster family laugh. She enjoys the attention and sometimes acts silly on purpose. Ame is full of energy and loves to play, but she’s also great at taking baths and has good manners. If told “no,” she’ll drop what she has and not go back to it. She knows how to sit and stay but isn’t a fan of bedtime and needs to be corralled into her kennel, where she settles down nicely.If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, and loving companion who will bring joy and laughter to your home, Ame is the perfect pup for you.
