Name: Barnes Age: 10 years Breed: Chihuahua mix Gender: Male Weight: 14lbs Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Current on vaccinations: Yes Fixed: Yes Adoption also includes Certified Vet Inspection, and Prior vetting paperwork. Foster location: Sturgeon Bay Application & Website: https://www.ourpackanimalrescue.com/adoption.html Bio: Barnes has been through more than any dog should have to experience. Barnes comes from a hoarding case in Texas. He needed to be treated for heartworms before traveling to Wisconsin. Right before traveling he was misdiagnosed with Cushings. He was unnecessarily getting meds for it and could have caused a different ailment if not caught in time. Thankfully our vet in Wisconsin caught it and the meds were stopped in time. All while this was happening, Barnes had such a significant case of dry eye that he couldn’t even close his eyelids all the way, even when sleeping. No amount of meds could reverse the damage, so Barnes had his eyes removed to help with the pain of severe dry eye. All this considered, Barnes is so sweet. He is still getting his bearings with being fully blind, but is able to navigate pretty well. Barnes loves to be pet and be close to where ever you are. He will navigate the ramp up to the human bed if he feels like it, otherwise he likes a big comforter bed on the floor. Barnes never experienced a leash until he was rescued from the hoarding home, so a fenced in yard would be a requirement for him. Barnes is a big fan of food time and will bark as you get things ready. Even with being a big fan of food, he takes treats very gently. He enjoys the other dogs and will go share a bed with them, but sometimes will politely tell them no thanks on sharing. He has played with another dog or a bone once in a while. Barnes is an easy going guy that he just wants a home to relax in. Our Pack Animal Rescue, Inc. Is an all foster based 501c3 rescue. License #487823. Meet and greets are arranged after an application has been approved. An approved application does not mean you must adopt the dog of interest, if it isn't a good fit.
