Beaker is a gentle, quiet boy. He rarely barks when we’re home even when the resident dogs bark.  He’s a bit reserved right now, but every day he shows a little more of who he is.  Beaker has chosen his foster mom as his person and has become her constant shadow.  He mostly avoids his foster dad and will occasionally bark to let him know he’s not ready to be friends yet. With slow introductions and a patient, gentle approach, he has the potential to build trust, so he’ll need someone who understands that he may take time to warm up. Beaker is still working on house training and does some marking, but he’s making progress with routine and patience. So far he mostly will only go outside if his foster mom goes with him. He seems to dislike the cold, so he appreciates quick potty breaks and cozy indoor time.  Beaker gets along well with our small dogs, both male and female, and has been respectful with the resident cat. He would do well in a home with calm, friendly animals who can help him build confidence. Because he barks when left alone, Beaker may not be the best fit for apartments or homes with shared walls. Above all, Beaker needs a patient adopter willing to go at his pace. Underneath his fear is an incredibly sweet, loving dog who wants nothing more than to feel safe with his person.
