See Blakey *Arriving 7/12*’s HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Blakey may take a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’s a total lap (or chair!) buddy who loves to be near his person. This sweet guy was an owner surrender due to their declining health—he came from a home with 11 dogs. Rescues stepped in and found homes for 9, and now it’s Blakey's turn for a fresh start. He’s shy at first and might act a little tough until he feels safe, but don’t let that fool you—Blakey has a gentle heart. Treats are the key to his affection, and with a little patience, he’ll be your shadow in no time. Blakey loves the outdoors and enjoys his walks. He’s not a high-energy dog, but he’ll play a bit when the mood strikes. He’s incredibly thoughtful—he won’t eat until he’s sure all the other dogs have been fed. He can get a little jealous when other dogs are getting attention and may growl if they’re playing near him, so a calm home or experienced dog-savvy owner would be ideal. Blakey hasn't been around kids, so a quieter, adult-only home or one with older, respectful children would be best. He thrives in a home where someone is around more often than not, and slow introductions—both to people and other pets—are the way to his heart. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just needs a little time and love to shine, Blakey is ready to give you his whole heart. Blakey is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on July 12th and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am-Noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
