Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Boo #3 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Boo #3 | 5 years old Poodle mix | Small, shy, and sweet as can be Boo is a gentle, quiet little soul who’s learning what it means to feel safe and loved. This 12-pound mini Poodle arrived as an after-hours shelter surrender in New Mexico, thin, dirty, and unsure of the world around him. Though he’s still a bit nervous, Boo is beginning to trust and relax in his foster home, revealing the soft sweetness hiding beneath his shy exterior. Every day brings a little more confidence — a tail wag here, a curious sniff there — and it’s a joy to see him slowly come out of his shell. Boo’s favorite place is his cozy crate, where he feels secure and comfortable. He often chooses to nap there even with the door wide open, curling up in his bed and watching the world from a safe distance. He’s doing well with house training — just a few accidents here and there — and sleeps soundly through the night. When left alone, he’s an absolute angel, content to rest quietly until his humans return. He’s not quite ready for walks yet; it’s not the leash that worries him but being around people and unfamiliar activity. For now, Boo enjoys spending time on a long tether in the yard, sniffing the breeze and soaking up a little sunshine. He gets along nicely with other dogs, cats, and gentle children, though he’d rather they let him be unless he approaches them first. His foster describes him as calm, submissive, and surprisingly tolerant for grooming — a true sweetheart who simply prefers his own space. Food is one of Boo’s great motivators (especially cheese!), and his foster is using that to build trust through gentle hand feeding. He doesn’t know any commands yet, but he’s learning what kindness looks and feels like. He likes being brushed, lying in the grass, and observing life quietly from the sidelines. Boo’s ideal home would be calm, patient, and understanding — a place where he’s not pushed to be social before he’s ready. He would thrive with someone who respects his boundaries and reads his body language, allowing him to build confidence at his own pace. A quiet apartment or low-key household would suit him perfectly, especially if his people are content with a peaceful companion rather than an adventure buddy. Boo may be independent and reserved, but with time, love, and a gentle hand, he’s sure to become a deeply loyal little friend who will melt your heart in his own quiet way.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $600. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
