Critter Details
My name is Brady and I'm both an athlete (even with only 3 legs!) and a cuddler. I appear to be a lab/corgi mix and was born in May 2022. When I was around 7 months old, some cruel people chopped off my toes on one of my paws. I believe they were planning on doing the same to all my other toes but I managed to escape! As you can imagine, I was terrified of humans at that point, so I hid from them. My wounds became infected and almost reached a deadly level. I am alive because an amazing group of humans took me to a vet. My front leg was amputated, but I don't let that slow me down! I'm now happy and healthy, living with my foster mom in Vancouver. While she adores me, this is only a temporary stay– I can't wait to be accepted into my forever home. I'm suitable for a human(s) who will keep me active and allow for lots of cuddles. If you're curious about my mobility as a tripaw: I can jump into a car on my own and I'm quite good at managing stairs. I will probably age better in a home without too many stairs, but as a young dog right now, I am quite active. I am still shy meeting men I don't know, though I am learning that men can be as gentle as women. Patience and praise will go a long way with me! My foster mom says I am becoming quite a social pup. I enjoy being on leash as I run around a bit with other dogs, and am working at being off leash at the dog park. I would be happy in any loving home, though ideally I would like a home with a backyard where I can sniff, play, and have nature calls. I am good with some other dogs that I meet on walks but there are some other dogs that scare me so I still need help to feel safe, letting my confidence grow. This means that I need to remain on leash when out in my community but in a back yard, hey, I run so fast I sometimes believe I'm flying!I have such fun playing with the other foster dog in my current foster home, however it took me a couple of days to fully know that he's a gentle guy (please see video below). I would dearly like another dog in my adoptive home so please be patient if it takes me a week or so to feel comfortable with any dog new to me. I also REALLY enjoy car rides when I can watch all the interesting things going on in the world around me. See my smile in the photo attached!! I am soooo longing for my forever home with humans (both women and men) who will share affection with me that I greatly need and appreciate. Are you interested in meeting me to see what a cuddler I am?! I'm eager to meet you too!Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unsureKids: noHouse trained: yesLeash trained – yes, I do have some skills but I'm a bit of a nature boy so I like to roam and sniff when I'm out. I also have a prey drive so I will want to go chase the rabbits or squirrels. Health notes: I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I'm a tri-pawed happy little boy :)My adoption fee is $650 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.[MID-EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
