Canelo IS AVAILABLE (updated 08-06-2026). To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/canelo Coastal GSR was notified about a 10 month old white German Shepherd who was hit by a car and had a badly fractured femur. Luckily, an experienced and caring foster was found for him and he had orthopedic surgery followed by crate rest. It took many months for him to fully recover but now he is ready and raring to go! Canelo went to his first adoption event at the end of June and did fantastic! He was friendly with everyone there and greeted each visitor personally. He really wanted to play with the other dogs at the event but we limited that until proper introductions could be done. Plus, it was so hot! Canelo lives in a foster home with five Huskies! They are the best of friends and play constantly now that Canelo has completely mended. He rides well in the car and frequently travels with his foster mom and her dogs on road trips. He has his own crate inside the van and is very comfortable in it. Canelo is crate trained, housebroken, and has a very good appetite. He prefers spending time in his crate inside the house. The foster leaves his crate door open and he’ll peacefully hang out/sleep in it. Canelo would do well in a home with another dog, or two, or he would be fine as an only dog who gets to hang out with you and ride shotgun with you on your adventures. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
