Name:  Cheerio        Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and retriever mix   Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of November 2025        SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  44 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at: DC area foster home   Cheerio is Looking For: Hi! I want to say ‘cheerio’ to the unhoused life and once again have my own humans! I’d love to explore the world by their side on sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Making pup pals along the way would be great too. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed – oh yes those too.    In exchange I promise to be a Good Girl. A staff member from the shelter took me home for a visit and said this about me: ‘Cheerio did great dorming with me. She didn’t have any accidents in the home and wasn’t destructive.. Crated easily and calmly waited to be let out, even when crated overnight or for longer stretches. Cheerio wanted to join me on the bed, but wasn’t brave enough to jump up herself. So we started working on the cue ‘elevator’ where she would stand in front of me. Then I would lift her up on the bed for snuggles. Cheerio was such a sweet, gentle snuggly girl. She was also polite when I was eating my own food. She really loves chewing on sticks and gnawing on dog things (Himalayan chew + nylabone). She checked out a stuffed pumpkin toy I gave her, but (so far) left it intact’   What do you say? Can I come stay with you?   What My DC Area Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once she has spent time in foster care here.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
