Hiya! My name is CHIBI and here is a little info about me: Breed: Chihuahua mixAge: 8 years (d.o.b 01/11/2017)Gender: FemaleWeight: 28.5lbs / 13kgsHeight: 37cm / 14.5inCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlight(s): Obedient, courageous, confident, loving, sillyHello, humans! I’m so happy to meet you. My playful antics will keep you smiling, and my snuggles will melt your heart.I’ve been through quite a journey and have experienced heartbreak. Let me begin my introduction by telling you about a night in January 2025 during a rainstorm when I was rescued.   Cold, shivering, and severely malnourished, my rescuers discovered me abandoned in a dumpster.  They discovered my body was covered in gashes and brought me to safety just in time.Shortly after my rescue, it was revealed that I was pregnant. Tragically, due to my fragile state, my single puppy didn’t survive. Despite these hardships, I maintained a resilient nature and haven't given up. With the dedicated care of my saviors, I have healed physically and emotionally, blossoming into the amazing dog I am today.  Now I love massages, cuddles, and adore being brushed– I even make an adorable purring sound! I am not a picky eater and as I was very underweight when discovered alone in the dumpster, my rescuers have been spoiling me with treats (some of my favourites, you ask?– chicken, giblets. sardines, cheese, cooked veggies, especially carrots) .  Because of their kindness (and my tendency to eat only small amounts at a time) I am currently a tad overweight.  Now I could really benefit from a more active lifestyle; one with regular walks and a moderated diet. Healed from my wounds and no longer malnourished, it would be nice to live up to the translation of my Japanese name Chibi, which means 'small/short/tiny'.I can be a little feisty and am not afraid to stand my ground when I feel the need.  Since my not all of my past is known, I might have needed to have a tough edge to survive…  I'm much more of a softie now that I've adapted to accepting love, and I adore attention.  I still might gently nudge other dogs out of the way to soak it all up. I love to sniff around and learn about my environment. If you want to know how to truly appeal to my sweet side– play some soft music and I'll melt in your arms.I do not like to be picked up suddenly and without notice, especially from directly under my belly when I'm on the floor. If you talk to me and stroke me before lifting me up from a chair or sofa, then carry me gently, I will be happy to be in your arms. Please allow me some time to get to know and trust you.  I live with other dogs right now and things can be noisy and unpredictable.  I am longing for a stable life predictable routines.  My eyes can get cloudy (it’s like seeing things through a veil), but they periodically clear up. This is possibly from contact abrasion of the cornea because I follow closely behind the other dogs’ wagging tails which hit me across the eyes. When they give me antibiotics, CBD oil and omega-3 oil, my eyes clear up significantly. When I no longer have to navigate through a pack of tails, surely my vision will improve. Also, I may have allergies to some of the plants on the property, or to dust, which contribute to eye redness.I have healed from my physical wounds, malnourishment, and the heartbreak of losing my puppies.  With the kindness from humans, and being around other sweet dogs, I am thriving.  My heart longs for a new start in a home with a person/people who will accept me as the spunky and loving girl I am!Added vid at vet: https://youtube.com/shorts/ufddrbKdEuw?feature=share.Energy Level: Low-moderate I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: unknownKids: unknownFears: Sudden movements can spook me. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 – $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
