Goooood daaaay. I'm COBBLER (Cody) and here's a bit about me:Breed: Husky mixAge: 3-1/2 yrsGender: MaleWeight: 55 lbsHeight: 42 inchesCountry of origin: US, New MexicoHighlights: playful, gentle, fun-loving, tad people shy, calm, friendly, activeYou do like Cobbler right? Whether apple, cherry, peach or otherwise, I am a sweet dish. Just look at my beautiful eyes.My rescuers saved me from the euthanasia list at animal services, shortly before they had a terrible distemper outbreak. Close call. I'm safe now though.I love other dogs and will do well in a home with doggy friends, as I love to run and play outside. I do require a secure yard. Even if I end up as an only, if we at least get playdates with others, I'm good. Though I get a bit anxious when first meeting people, my trust grows with time. I am a gentle and fun-loving pup, who just wants to feel safe and loved.I truly appreciate a quiet place in the house where I can go to feel safe.Children? Love 'em (though our rescuer has not gotten video yet.) Once I become acquainted, of course. They are fun to run around with and play chase the ball. I am housetrained (to include doggy door), but can occasionally stress mark my territory inside. My foster is working on this behavior. My rescuers believe this will subside, once I am in a stable environment and have some time to realize I now have my forever home and won't be moved around anymore.I generally sleep through the night. I will softly howl and bark in the morning when I am ready to start my day. Really, it's cute. Husky talk often is.My enjoyment is slow, meandering walks on a leash, where I can take in all the smells and leave my mark on unsuspecting plants and bushes. I don't have the high drive mamy huskies display. No siree, while I am more to the low-middle energy level. In weather more conducive for me, I might be more to the moderate side of energy. I am a reserved active type.An amusing trait is I will join with my other dog siblings in howling with the local coyotes, which keeps my foster family entertained. Hopefully, you will love the serenade too, if you get to catch hearing it in my new home.Additional videos: https://youtube.com/shorts/4sKjC3lKPYw, https://youtube.com/shorts/VQOUJXnhz_k, https://youtu.be/s3ZLlOUQ9Q0Energy Level: low to moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: rescuer states yes, but no video proofFears: shyness when he first meeting new people. This includes my transportation to the Canadian border.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
