This handsome boy is a loyal, lively companion who thrives on outdoor walks and playtime. Cooper is house trained and walks really well on a leash. Although he does great with his dog friends, Cooper is picky about his canine companions. He needs a dog friend who can handle his rough-and-tumble play. Cooper loved playing with a fearless puppy in his foster home as well as another high energy rattie girl he met on a playdate, and has tried to make other friends with less success. He is often a bit too much for lower energy dogs. He is learning to respect the space of the middle-aged small dog in his foster home by gravitating more toward his human caretakers for play. The coolest thing about Cooper is that he loves training! He has proven excellent at training for tricks and he can now "sit", "down", "wait", "spin", "roll over", and "shake". The mental energy spent on training helps to keep Cooper focused and builds his confidence with you. Cooper’s challenge is that he really misses you when you leave the house and has big feelings about being at home without you. He has some separation anxiety that often results in some barking when left alone, especially upon your return, so he probably isn't ready for apartment living. This has gotten much better in the time he has spent in his foster home. While he can be reactive on walks, this has mostly resolved once he learned his new neighborhood. Adopters should be prepared to continue working with Cooper on these behaviors as he settles into a new home environment.
