Name:  Darwin     Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of January 2026       SEX:  Male    Approximate Weight: 33.5 lbs as of 1/26/27; he is underweight at this weight   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven’t seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here.    Darwin is Looking For:  This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own, quite underweight. He’s closed that chapter and is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He’s well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what’s most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof.
