Critter Details

Declan (which means full of goodness), is one handsome dude. You are immediately drawn to his face as it is symmetrical in coloring and accented by short floppy ears. He has a beautiful short tricolor coat of brown, black, and white. He weighs about 44 pounds and is full grown, so he is in the medium range. He is a Spaniel and Australian cattle dog mix who is thought to be about 2 years of age.Australian cattle/spaniel mixes (often known as Blue Spaniels) are known to be very smart and friendly. They are loving family-oriented dogs often with lots of energy, so they would be best suited with an active family who will provide plenty of exercise.Declan is a very happy, playful, and social dog. He enjoys the company of other dogs during play time in the play yard. It is unknown if he has lived with cats, but he is sociable with children. Little information was provided about him because he was pulled from another shelter (which probably saved his life). So, it would be best to start with a refresher course in crate, leash, and house training. Declan will need someone who has had experience working with young energetic adult dogs. Daily walks will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. (It will also be an opportunity to find out what commands he knows). It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. A secure back yard will give him free time to play and burn off extra energy. He mostly likely would enjoy going for hikes. At home he will benefit from mental stimulation in the form of activities and play He will want to be around his family. Are you willing to take on the task of helping him transition to a new life where he is loved and appreciated? If yes, read on.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine.
