He was found as a stray, likely dumped, on a rural property in Johnson County last summer. He was originally TNRed as he was deemed too "spicy" for the animal shelter. However, once he was safely contained for medical care after he developed some health issues, his true personality quickly came through: he is an affectionate, charming cat who loves people! Dexter has been treated for allergies that caused skin issues and is currently doing well with a specialized diet. His condition has improved significantly with treatment, and he has shown resilience throughout his recovery process. Personality-wise, Dexter is affectionate, playful, and thrives on human interaction. He loves being near his people, enjoys playtime with toys, and would do best in a home where he gets plenty of attention and affection. He may occasionally get a bit mouthy during play or handling, so continued gentle redirection with toys is helpful. Dexter is currently thriving as the only cat in his foster home, where he gets plenty of love and attention. However, he may also do well with another young, friendly cat and could enjoy having a playful companion. His history with dogs is unknown, so any introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully, or he may prefer a dog-free home where he can feel most comfortable and secure.
