Flight May 27, I need an adopter!Hi, my name is Firuze, here's some info about me:Breed: Whippet/Beagle mixAge: 1 yrGender: femaleWeight: 15 kgHeight: 55 cmFrom: TurkeyI’m a Gentle Soul Looking for my Forever Home. Just a young, sweet girl who has bloomed beautifully in my foster home after a tough start to life.Brought to the shelter during the dark days of the massacre law in Turkey, my siblings and mother were there with me. At just four months old, I was separated from my mother — a heartbreaking moment that left me terrified and distrustful of humans.I spent most of my puppyhood in the shelter, and by seven months old, I was moved to the shelter’s large garden area with around 300 other dogs. Me being still timid, struggled to protect myself and I was eventually attacked by more dominant dogs.During one of our feeding visits, the nice puppy caretakers found me injured and they immediately rushed me to a private vet. I then received treatment and healed well.Luckily, I found a loving foster home where I’m slowly learning to trust again. I have perfect potty manners and have never had an accident inside. With a gentle and timid soul, especially sensitive to sudden sounds and new people, I may be shy at first. I finds comfort in calm environments and love having a safe space like a cozy crate or quiet corner to retreat to.I prefer peaceful companionship over being the center of attention, but I happily enjoy playtime with other dogs. I tend to follow the lead of trusted dog friends, making me an ideal buddy if you already have a calm, confident dog at home. Also, may I add, I am cat-friendly and respectful around feline friends. In public spaces like dog parks and cafes, I am content to just observe the world from a safe spot. I will lie down calmly after a few minutes of settling in.Today, my true joyful spirit is shining through. I am ready for my forever home — where I can finally feel safe and loved. Will you be the one to complete my story? Some more adorable facts: Not destructive at home. Loves plush toys (no noisy toys, please!). Very quiet — her foster family hasn’t even heard her bark yet! Enjoys long walks. Not highly food motivated, so patience and gentleness are key when offering treats. I know how to walk with a leash, no pulling.I would thrive in a patient, understanding home, preferably a quiet environment where I can take my time to trust and adjust. A home with another friendly dog would be a big plus, but it’s not required if you’re willing to help me open up at my own pace.Ready to fill a loving home with my gentle presence — could it be yours?More vids: https://youtube.com/shorts/cxRnrjw2DSs,    https://youtube.com/shorts/sc1tX5hNd8Q.Energy Level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: YESCats: YESKids: UNKNOWNFears: None observed. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 – $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
