Day after day, I sat alone on that balcony, the concrete beneath me hard and unwelcoming, the sky above my only source of comfort. My so-called “owner” didn’t see me as a companion, but as a thing — something to be silenced, struck, ignored.I had no toys, no walks, no belly rubs or whispered words of love. Just the sting of hands that should have been gentle and the ache of a heart longing for something more.Fate had other plans for me though. One day, someone noticed. Someone saw the love in my eyes and the soft whimper that came when no one was listening. And just like that, I was rescued.My transformation was almost immediate. The first time I set paw in a grassy park, it was as though the earth itself welcomed me home. I ran with abandon, tail high, tongue lolling, my spirit finally free. For the first time in my life, I was seen. Oh, how I have blossomed. I am playful and deeply social, making friends wherever I go, both canine and human. But I'm also quiet and gentle, often curling up quietly beside the ones I loves most, content just to be close.I adore car rides, ears flapping in the breeze, as if each trip is a promise of new adventures. I thrive in dog parks, greeting every pup like an old friend. I savor my daily walks, every step a celebration of the freedom I never had before.Though I may have started my life in cruelty, I never let it define me. Instead, I chose joy. I chose trust. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 – $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.
