Hello! My name is Flora. Here is some information about me:Breed: Border Collie-Pitty MixAge: 4 years oldGender: FemaleWeight: 35 lbsHeight: TBDHi, I’m Flora — and I’ve come a long way.I’m a 4-year-old Border Collie-Pittie mix (or at least that’s the best guess!). My story started in Texas, where some kind-hearted rescuers found me after I’d been hit by a car. I don’t remember much from that day—just that I was scared and hurting. But those people saved me. They brought me to safety, and I recovered in a quiet foster home where I learned how to feel safe again. At first, I was skittish and shy. The world had felt scary for a long time. But in my foster home, I had a furry foster brother who showed me how to trust again. Just being near him helped me build confidence. That’s why I think a forever home with another smallish, kind dog would be so perfect for me.Once I’m settled, my sweet side shines through. I’m playful and gentle, and I absolutely love playing fetch—it’s kind of my thing. I’m treat-motivated (so training me is fun!), crate trained, house trained, and I walk nicely on leash. I’d say I’m the perfect mix of independent and cuddly. I won’t be in your face all the time, but I’ll always be close by, quietly loving you in my own way.I’m sensitive, so I need a calm and understanding home that will let me warm up at my own pace. I’ve been around kids and done really well, even though there’s no video proof—I’m always gentle and respectful. I don’t bark much, and I’m happiest in a home that gives me consistency, love, and maybe even a doggy companion to help me feel secure.I’ve come such a long way, and now I’m ready for the next step: a forever family to call my own. If you’re looking for a gentle soul with a big heart, I might just be your girl. I promise I’ll make your heart a little fuller and your home a lot warmer.Love,Flora Energy Level: Low-ModerateI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: UnknownKids: Yes (no video proof)My adoption fee is $750 CAD plus taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 – $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this.[MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
