See George’s HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   We first learned about George when a kind individual at Devils Backbone Brewery posted on social media that he had taken up a spot on a porch there and wondered if he had people looking for him. When no one stepped forward, George was taken to Animal Control. When we met him at Animal Control we knew we had to pull him into our care at the Almost Home Pet Adoption Center. George had been with us previously, in 2022.During his “stray hold” George’s owners were located, but they were no longer able to care for him and signed him over so he can find another home. We don’t really know how old George is, but he is definitely a senior gentleman. Our estimate is around 11 years old. One look into his sad eyes and even the hardest hearts can melt. He’s been to the vet and they found he has two tickborne diseases and some infected teeth. No need to worry about that though, as he is now on antibiotics. Now that he is at Almost Home with a cozy room and a soft bed, and has had several days of antibiotics, George is perking up a bit. He walked into the cat room and was very happy to see the kitties. Wagging his tail and sniffing he respectfully backed away when the cats hissed or scratched at him. He may try to chase a cat if he is loose, but George seems to respond well to correction, so slow introductions on leash should do the trick. Introductions with dogs, both male and female, went well. George seems to be an easy-going fellow.We would love to find a permanent home for him with a securely fenced yard. George does seem to roam, so that’s a must. Could that be you?
