A FUN, BUSY & CURIOUS FELLOW:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 31 lbs. Hi, my name is Hampton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am excited to be part of the Mostly Mutts family.  They sure are taking great care of me while I wait for my new family to find me.  As much as I love the volunteers, I yearn for a family of my very own, that I can have fun with and be active with!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off-site and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts as well as in the prison/foster training program, and liked them, but I do guard my food, so food and treats should be handled separately. / Cats unknown, but make sure food is not in play. / I met some nice kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and did well with them, without any food or toys around.  Older children 15+ who understand my need for space when I am eating would be the best fit in my new home and – of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a curious and playful guy who has a very lively personality!  As affectionate as I am handsome, I have energy to spare and a big heart to share.  I’m ready to go when I see the volunteers heading my way.  I was calm for my shelter bath, but toweling off meant playtime with the towel – lol.   So much fun energy!  Happy and friendly, I’m ready to be your loyal and active companion! / My energy level is 6-8, so let’s have lots of exciting adventures together! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I’ve made great progress with my trainer in the prison/foster program on my food guarding and even learned to trade a toy for a treat, but it’s still something to be mindful of — so please ask for more details.  I may show some guarding behaviors in a home setting — for example, I guarded the stairs in my temp. foster home — but my trainer will be happy to share tips to support my continued progress with guarding.  I can be playfully mouthy, and once when it was very loud and busy at the shelter, I got a bit riled up and my teeth made contact with my walker. It also happened once while I was on a walk. My trainer can show you how to help with this. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule as well as in a temp. foster home I visited, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for long hikes with the volunteers and love the car rides on the way!  I also like toys — squeaky, bouncy, fluffy, you name it, I like them.  Belly rubs?  Don’t even get me started … they’re my favorite, and I’ll flop right over to show you where to start.  I’m always ready for action, whether it’s a game of fetch, a walk, or just running off energy with you in the yard and then sitting in the shade.  Life’s a blast, and I’m here to make every moment fun! / As stated, I do NOT like anyone touching my food during mealtimes, so a bit of privacy while I’m dining, please.  ‘Party of one’.  Otherwise, I’m sure I would not be happy if I did not get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve started 2 medications called Fluoxetine and Trazodone to help with shelter stress.  I think I’ll be able to wean off of these once I’ve settled in my new home.  I am looking for a loving home where I will be a cherished member of the family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
