A cuddly, playful five-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/Hound/Carolina Dog mix currently in Birmingham, AL, whose essence is a radiant burst of loyalty wrapped in a beautiful golden tan coat. Hattie is the kind of companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her favorite people, whether she is curled up beside you on the couch, soaking up the sunshine in the yard, or eagerly joining you on a hiking trail where every interesting scent becomes part of her latest adventure! At about 35 pounds, she is a wonderful medium-sized girl with a joyful personality that truly shines when she has structure, affection, and opportunities to learn. She has completed formal obedience training and proudly knows commands including sit, stay, leave it, wait, touch, look at me, shake, come, lap, bring it to me, and even "go chill." Hattie genuinely enjoys training sessions and thrives with positive reinforcement, happily showing off her impressive manners. She rides well in the car, settles comfortably in her crate throughout a typical workday, and has excellent house manners. She also has a remarkable gift for sensing when someone is feeling down, quietly offering cuddles and comfort without being asked. Hattie needs a loving home where she can be the only pet. She has had several altercations with other dogs in her home and is not compatible with living alongside another dog. While she remains calm around dogs during walks and training classes, she needs a dog-free household to thrive. Because these incidents can occur without obvious warning, Hattie needs an adult-only home or one with older children, along with an experienced guardian who is comfortable providing structure, thoughtful management, and continued positive reinforcement. A securely fenced yard will allow her to safely enjoy running, sniffing, and relaxing in the sunshine. She is spayed, microchipped, house-trained, and current on vaccinations. Hattie has so much love to give and thrives when she can spend time with her favorite people, whether exploring the outdoors or snuggled up at home.
