Please contact Brooke at brookevabooking@gmail.com for more information or to adopt.Hi everyone, I am the happy Hendrix and here's some information about me:Age: ~ 3-1/2 yearsBreed: Lab/ shepherd mixWeight: 75 lbsGender: MaleI was rescued from a high kill shelter in southern CA in 2021. A while after my adoption, I was found by animal control in rural Alabama. It seems that my adopters had just disappeared – no one could find them. Fortunately my previous foster was still listed on my microchip, so at least I landed in a temporary safe space. That means however that I am now back at looking to find a new forever home. There are so many things I love, but playing fetch must be my absolute favorite, especially when fetch is combined with water. Swimming is also firm favorite. If there is a river or lake nearby, I will sniff it out. No ball has gone lost under my watch, when I am tasked with 'find it'. I am very dedicated that way and take pride in rescuing them, so much so, that I was almost accepted into a search and rescue program in southern CA in 2021.I also love people, kids and seniors but don't feel the need to guard my food and other resources. There are quite a number of commands in my vocabulary: 'sit', 'down', 'in your house' (crate), 'out', 'place', 'leave it', 'hut'( stop, come back and sit), 'stay/wait', 'let's go' (keep walking). My foster mom has taught me good manners like sitting while waiting for food, the leash or the door. Car rides are great and I can be trusted to be spending a bit of time alone at home, without the need for re-decorating, in other words, eating the couch. Currently, I am working on the 'drop it' command which is a bit challenging, especially when I am distracted or excited. My foster says I am a joy to train and easily motivated by food and toys. In my foster home, I get along well with a senior pitty and generally I get along well with most dogs. Due to my high arousal play style and shelter trauma, we however avoid large play groups like day cares or dog parks. Regardless, when I am at home with small groups of dogs, this is not a problem. If I get a home with my own yard, this will be great for me to interact more socially with other dogs during playdates.Unfortunately I don't really like cats or other prey animals like ferrets or rats.I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, house trained and crate trained. An adoption fee of $100 applies.THIS IS A COURTESY POST.
