Lee County DAS reached out to Big Cypress German Shepherd Rescue to help find a safe and loving placement for Honey (also known as Ava), who was extremely frightened in the shelter environment.   Shortly after intake, it became clear that Honey was more medically compromised than first believed. She hadn’t eaten for three days and was struggling with a persistent cough. With prompt veterinary care beginning Monday, April 6, Honey is now on the road to recovery.   We’re happy to share that she’s started eating again, feeling better, and even showing her playful side.
