Howie’s journey started in Mississippi, where he was pulled from the euthanasia list at just 6 months old. He’s spent the past two years patiently waiting for a forever home. But let us tell you: Howie is a real diamond in the rough! Once we started fostering him here in Virginia, he is absolutely shining. He’s the total dreamboat package: Gentle and affectionate – shy at first, but warms up fast, is very patient and becomes your loyal shadow. House-trained – and crate-trained too (though he doesn’t need it!). He doesn’t chew and is totally trustworthy to leave alone in the house. Leash-savvy and curious – he loves daily walks & romps in the yard. Cuddle-approved – especially on rainy days. Medium energy – playful and silly, but just as happy lounging near his people. Protective in the sweetest way – he’ll alert you to visitors and stand guard like a gentleman. Howie is great with our dogs (and has met countless others with no issues) and thrives on connection.  He would do best with someone who is home more often than not—maybe a work-from-home buddy or a family with a steady routine. He loves company and will follow you from room to room, always keeping an eye on his favorite human. We’re not sure how he feels about cats, but we do know this: Howie is one of the most precious, soulful dogs we’ve had the honor of caring for. He’s fully vetted, neutered, and has a perfect energy and smile to match his perfect temperament.
