Critter Details

Hi there, hey there, ho there. My name is JARVIS (Jessie) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Terrier mix (possibly a Yorkie/Maltese mix)Age: 4 yrsGender: maleWeight: 10 kgHeight: 25 cmCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlight(s): quiet, sweet, sensitive, subdued, separation fearsReserved and very quiet is my basic temperament. I am quite a sweet boy.The scoop on me now that I have arrived in Canada is that I am feeling safer every day. While I was once in a foster home, sadly, I was stolen and listed for sale on a website. Fortunately, my rescuers found and rescued me before it was too late. Who knows what cruel person may have bought me and things may have been done to me.I get along well with people and other dogs. I tend toward gentle and am emotionally sensitive. Probably due to my past trauma, I cannot be left alone, as it terrifies me.Being subdued, I mostly do a lot of sleeping and prefer a calm environment. I seem often tired and trembling. Likely once I feel safe, I will come out of my shell and interact more with the world again. I do tend to copy my friend Everly (also posted) when left alone. He howls, so I do too. A bit of time and training should help.Recently I was experiencing discomfort while urinating and showed signs of constipation. After examination, the vet did radiographs and an ultrasound. It revealed early stage intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). Thankfully, the condition was caught early, and I was immediately started on a three-week course of corticosteroid therapy to relieve the inflammation and pressure on my spine. After the tapered dosing of treatment, I have shown significant improvement , my spine issue has healed, and I am now feeling much better.https://youtube.com/shorts/OzS5pxRVSPIIf you are willing to provide me the time I need to adjust to a real life free of fears and my traumatic past, I would be ever so grateful. I really enjoy loving up on you.Energy Level: lowI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown. Rescuer states yes, but no video proofFears: Being alone. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes: Early stage disc issue, treated with corticosteroids, healed now and im doing well now.I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 – $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.
