Meet Jim, a young adult rat terrier-jack russell mix, just 2 years-old, and always ready for a game of fetch with soft toys or a romp around the yard! At a compact 13 lbs., his short legs never hold him back from his playful pursuits. Jim’s energy is on full display when he is ‘on’, his goofy playfulness sometimes turning to mischief when he steals your socks. Like many ratties, Jim is also a cuddle enthusiast when he switches ‘off’ for a long snooze next to you.Jim seems to like most other dogs his size, but gets a little defensive with bigger dogs, so introductions should be slow, especially with other male dogs. He loves to be around humans that give him attention like head pats and treats. He’s a smart and well-behaved boy too — Jim has learned how to ‘sit’ and ‘spin’ for his favorite treats. He’s house-trained with zero accidents in his foster home, and loves to ride along in the car whenever possible. He wants to join in whatever is happening, so when left at home, Jim will likely bark and scratch at the door a bit on your departure to express hisconcern about being excluded.  He can be crated instead when you leave, and only gives a few barks hoping to convince you he can come too. At night, Jim sleeps quietly in a crate next to the bed, though he would very much like to snuggle with you on the bed if that is allowed.With his boundless energy and love for play, Jim would make a great addition to a family that loves outdoor activities and doesn’t mind continuing to work with him on training basic commands to help him be his best self.
