If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will adore being part of your everyday life, Koda might just be your perfect match. This almost 4 year old, 69 pound sweetheart is a true gem – the kind of dog who wants nothing more than to be where you are, soaking up affection, following you from room to room, and keeping an eye on “his” humans, especially the kids. What makes Koda special is that he truly incredible with children – calm, gentle, and patient, even when surrounded by a crowd of little hands. He’s very aware of his size and has never knocked a child over. He sleeps freely at night but knows his crate is a cozy spot when needed. He’ll gladly head into it for a treat or a peanut butter Kong. Crating him is recommended when you’re away for an extended period of time, but he can certainly get to the point for free roam. Koda is eager to please and food motivated. He’s working on focus with distractions, and with consistent training, he’ll thrive. Koda is generally good with other dogs but may need a slow intro. He would probably love a sibling to play with! He walks like a pro, doesn’t bark unnecessarily, and travels well—just keep him in the back or behind a barrier to avoid front-seat visits. Koda loves toys, but won’t destroy them. He may pick up the occasional kid’s stuffie but drops it immediately. He prefers frisbees over balls. He is a dream to bathe, wipe down, and groom. He’s even okay with ear cleaning and tooth checks! Koda has a moderate-to-high energy level and loves the outdoors, so a yard, preferably with an at least five foot fence, would be fantastic (though not required if he’s regularly exercised). He’s not an indoor-only dog – without activity, he’ll get bored, but hasn’t shown a destructive side yet. He’d thrive with an active family or human who enjoys walks, hikes, or jogs, and who doesn’t mind a constant companion (personal space? He’s not familiar with the term). Koda will bring you his food bowl if he’s hungry. He has a chicken allergy but does great on salmon/lamb diets. His velcro level is 100/10 – he’s always by your side. He doesn’t get on furniture but loves being near you. He is housebroken but will mark when he smells other dogs (he was recently neutered). He is good off-leash with supervision and trust, but will explore. Koda is not reactive to loud noises but is curious about cats, chickens and horses. He is also not a jumper, but might get excited if lots of guests arrive at once. Koda is a loyal, loving, and goofy boy who will thrive in a home where he’s included, exercised, and adored. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who gives back tenfold, come meet this sweetheart – he might just be your new best friend.
