Come meet Koda and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (10/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22305)! Name: Koda Best Guess for Breed: Flat coated retriever and shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 5 months as of October 2025 SEX: Male Estimated Weight (puppies’ weights change quickly!): 20 lbs as of 10/3/25 Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy. Additionally, you may notice Koda has some hair loss in the pictures here (as of 10/4/25) – have no fear! He is being treated for demodex which is a non-contagious form of mange triggered by a weak immune system. He will have a shiny coat in no time Koda is Looking For: Kane, Koda, and Kyro have had a great time growing up together but now they’re ready to split up and seek their own families! They talked it over and this is what they want in their new homes: Snuggles! Play time! Cuddles! More play time! With pup pals! World exploration! They also want to go to dog school so they can show how super smart they are. And quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But most of all, they want to know where they belong, to be safe and loved. In exchange, they offer adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all their days. What do you say? Does Koda get to grow up with you? What My Foster Says About Me: Koda is doing great and settling in really well. He gets along wonderfully with our resident dogs—he’s friendly, playful, and loves being part of the group. He’s got a sweet personality and. Whether we’re relaxing at home or outside enjoying the day, Koda is just happy to be included. He’s learning the ropes of being a dog and is off to a fantastic start! Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. . Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
