Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young girl eager for fresh start and love! LEONDRA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Leondra       Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and lab mix   Best Guess for Age:  7 months as of April 2025     Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:  29 lbs as of 3/22/25; she is still growing! Gets Along With:  Leondra has lived with other dogs and cats! We haven’t seen her with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: Lucky Dog’s South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up here after completing heartworm treatment.  Special Adoption Considerations: Leondra is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.     She was treated at the beginning of April 2025 and has completed the activity restriction phase – she is ready to go!   Leondra is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie is barely out of puppyhood and has all that great young-dog energy and is eager to get her own humans for sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and treats and a cushy dog bed sound good to her, as do checking out all the toys to see which she likes best and going to dog school so she can show how super smart she is. She has quite the stockpile of adoring gazes and tail wags saved up and is ready to bestow them all upon her new family, along with loyal companionship. What do you say? Is this sweet face the one you want to wake up to every morning for many, many days to come?
