ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     5m old Lil Bear from Arkansas. Lil’ Bear is one of 4 boys in a litter near my home in Oklahoma. I saw a post for one of his brothers stating her son saved him from several big dogs that were about to attack him. The son saw 3 more run into the woods and couldn’t find them. I rushed to pick up the 1st boy and told the finder if they get the others let me know. Two days later, they called me and said they got another one. When I went to get him, the son told me he knew the owner and that he was mean to the puppies and wanted them gone. I asked him to show me where the owner lived and away we went. I knocked on the door and the elderly man answered opening the door only enough to see me. I introduced myself and told him I was from the rescue Paws of Love Animal Rescue AR and that I was told he didn’t want the puppies and that I was told there were more on the property. He grumped at me and said, ‘There are 2 more somewhere and I want them gone’. So we waded through junk and trash to get to the back yard where we found the two babies and Mom. We were able to catch the last 2, one being Lil’ Bear. When I grabbed him he cried out of fear. Mom was a white Shih Tzu. We are guessing Dad is a schnauzer. Then the foster journey begins. Baths and vet visits, lots of puppy pads and food. Lil’ Bear was always the one who was the calm one. He would sit back and watch the others play as if he was taking it all in. After a week of having them separated from the family dogs, we introduced them and Lil’ Bear took to our big boy COTA. COTA is a husky/border Collie mix and a gentle giant. They were best buddies.Lil’ Bear loves zoomies, other dogs and cats. He is not shy about eating with the big dogs as he just stands under them and eats his dinner, taking turns grabbing a bite. When he gets tired, he will jump on the couch and snuggle next to my husband. He is crate trained and has never had an accident in his kennel. . He is good on a leash, but will shy away if someone comes near him while walking on the leash. Loud noises startle him, but with reassurance he calms down quickly. He loves to be held by anyone that will hold him and he just sits in their arms or on their lap. We have a local bar that is a dog friendly place and everyone there loves him. This is a picture of him at the bar before I took him to Sherry for transport in the morning.       All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani’s Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent–please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won’t feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can’t adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come!
