About Little Nell (we call her Nellie) 9 weeks year old Female Dog Social skills: Good with dogs, Other or untested Comments: Nellie is a happy and curious puppy girl! She loves to try and initiate play with her foster brothers (both of which are 50+ pound boys). She’s untested with cats or kids but would likely be able to easily integrate and learn based on her age Training Skills: Crate trained, Potty trained/litter box trained, Too young to walk on leash at the moment, but crate training and potty training History and background: Nellie ended up at Mesquite Animal Services when an officer found her and her 8 (!!!) brothers and sisters on the street. Having puppy fever, I coordinated with Jackie Babb to pick up one of the little babies and foster them for DPA. I had my pick of the litter and Nellie drew my attention right away as she was only one of two girls and the runt of the litter. Activity level: Puppy energy – play, eat, poop, sleep, repeat! Comments: As a small little puppy Nellie easily tires herself out by playing/jumping around with toys. She’s inquisitive and, like any usual puppy, wants to put her mouth on anything and everything so she does need constant supervision. Play behavior: Nellie is still growing her confidence and building her playstyle! She’s generally pretty gentle and enjoys playing with stuffy toys and Nylabones, but she also loves jumping at her foster brothers and biting on their tails to get them to pay attention to her. She’s a social girl and loves to be apart of the ‘pack’ Love language: Professional human cuddler *Very snuggly Favorite treats and toys: Nellie hasn’t met a treat or a toy she doesn’t like! Her favorite treat at this point seems to be yogurt or a stuffed kong, and her toy of choice is a furry stuffy Routine and ideal home: Nellie is still getting used to our house and has been an easy / adaptable addition :) She wakes up around 5:30-6:30a to go potty (she is a puppy after all), and then enjoys some play time before breakfast around 7a. After breakfast, she likes to play and is really inquisitive with discovering the new world around her. During the workday she sleeps nearby us and takes occasional potty breaks. We are also working on occasional crate training hours during the day and she is doing well with that. She has dinner at 5p, play time in the evening with her foster brothers, and goes to sleep in her crate around 9p. She isn’t yet able to go for walks, but I just know she’ll love to explore more of the big world! Best characteristics: She is tiny but mighty! While sometimes initially spooked by new surroundings, people, or places, she is an inquisitive and curious learner and is quickly gaining her confidence. In the 5 days that we have had her, she has grown so much. The best is when she’s really excited or proud of herself and gets the zoomies (they are so cute and short but she thinks she’s so fast) Descriptive adjectives: bright-eyed, playful, inquisitive Additional info: I have a pet that would be a good transport candidate (easily handled by strangers, no crate anxiety issues, etc.)
