Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 4/13/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Louie only has 3 legs. He was hit by a car in December, and the break was never addressed. By the time he got to the poodle farm in April, the damage was done, the nerves in the leg were done and it was better for Louie to take the leg. Louie is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative Weight: 76 lbs Height: 27 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Very much preferred. Louie is a big boy and will need a secure fence that is at least four (4) feet tall. Leash walking is entirely possible for Louie, but he really loves an all-out romp.   What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Louie! This resilient and lovable pup has been through a lot, but his zest for life and happy-go-lucky attitude shine brighter than ever. Louie dreams of a forever home with a person or family who will cherish his company. He’s not suited for apartment living due to his size and dislike of being left alone, but he would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can run and play safely. Louie is great with other dogs and would love a playmate—whether it’s your current pup or your energetic kids! Louie is still very active and needs an equally active adopter. He loves walks, dog park visits, playing with toys, and a good game of fetch. He’s made no messes while with us, but a new environment can cause some adjustment. Make sure to give him frequent potty breaks, especially right before bed and first thing in the morning, to help him settle into your routine. The only quirk Louie has is his dislike of being left alone—he can be vocal about it. Because of this, he’s not ideal for apartments or homes where he'll be left solo for long periods. Ideally, Louie's adopter(s) will be home most of the time or include him in their daily adventures. And speaking of adventures, Louie would love to join you! Whether it’s a hike in the mountains, a trip to the beach, or a visit to a dog-friendly café or shop, this social butterfly is always up for some fun. What is my personality like? Around Christmas 2024, Louie was hit by a car and suffered a broken pelvis. He received veterinary care, but after three months, his right leg had not regained feeling and began to drag. On the advice of his veterinarians and his neurologist, Louie underwent a leg amputation – and he hasn’t looked back since! Now a proud tripod, Louie gets around just as well as his four-legged friends. His joyful spirit remains untouched, and he's as energetic and affectionate as ever. His loving nature and easygoing temperament make him as close to the perfect dog as any adopter could hope for. “Let’s play!” That’s Louie. He’s friendly with other dogs, though his energy may be a bit much for most cats. His adopter should be ready to continue working with him on leash manners and basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. He’s eager to please, and with a little patience, positive reinforcement, and some tasty treats, he’ll pick up new skills quickly. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and energetic companion who will light up your life and probably make you a few new friends along the way, Louie is your guy.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Louie loves everyone he meets, regardless of age. He’ll happily greet you with a wagging tail, eager for pets and attention. Other tips and tidbits: Louie was born on 3/14/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog that is house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
