See Lucky’s HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hatch Date: 2008 Lucky is a suspected, female , 17 yr old Senegal. She is the sweetest Senegal Parrot that you’ll ever meet. She’s been in one household for her entire life, so it’ll take some patience and perseverance for her to accept you.Once she’s comfortable with you, she’ll give you a high 5, spread her wings into eagle formation, sit on your shoulder and even roll over! She can get a pissy when you are trying to clean up her cage.Best to see if you can get her out of the cage when doing this ;) Not a talker, but she does make loads of sounds and whistles. Her wings are clipped, so she doesn’t fly, but can glide down to a lower position. She is partially hand trained and will do the “up” command when she’s on the floor. Because of this, she would not do well in a home with cats or dogs. She is used to being out of her cage for at least 6 hrs/day.She does like to chew on wood and newspapers, which are in her cage. She’s good around both males and females. She likes to take baths and splash around her water bowl until the entire cage is wet! She would thrive in a quiet, stable home with someone who is around often and happy to spend lots of time with her. Everything is on her terms; if she doesn’t feel like stepping up, she will back away or warn you not to come closer by opening her beak. But she also loves being on your shoulder and is a very adventurous eater. She is on a pelleted diet and loves her fruits (grapes, cantaloupe, apple, mandarin orange slices, berries, etc.) She also likes some veggies – corn on cob, carrots and potatoes being her favorite. She’s fond of nuts – almonds and pecans in particular. She goes in her covered cage around sundown and is up around sunrise. She sleeps throughout the night, and is raring to go in the morning. She does take naps during the day while sitting on her open cage door. Lucky hasn’t shown any signs of aggression, but will let you know if you’re doing something shedoesn’t like. For this reason, Lucky would not be suited for young children who may not understand her body language. Senegals can also be very loud when they want your attention, so she may not work for apartment dwellers. If you have the time to allow Lucky to get to know you, she’ll be a sweet and loving companion. Lucky is being fostered in Easton, PA, and will require an in-person visits before adoption. We will not ship our adoptable birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.We only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Lucky, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org Please read our adoption policies, and fees and complete an adoption application
