Come meet Luke and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Sept. 22nd) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Luke Best Guess for Breed: Retriever and pointer mix Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of September 2024 SEX: Male Estimated Weight: 30 lbs as of 9/4/24; he is still growing. Gets Along With: Dogs! We haven’t seen him with cats yet but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Currently Living at: Lucky Dog’s South Carolina rescue campus – needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special Adoption Considerations: Luke needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Luke is Looking For: His forever home! This boy is barely out of puppyhood and has all that awesome young-dog energy he’d like to burn playing with his humans, exploring his new neighborhood, and making new pup pals at the local parks. Exploring all the toys would be great too, as well as quality kibble and a cushy dog bed, and going to dog school to show how super smart he is. But what he wants most of all is to get into his home and be a well loved family pet, knowing where he belongs. In return he promises lots of adoring gazes and tail wags and to always be your loyal companion. What do you say? Is Luke the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Shelter staff say that Luke is one of the calmer players in the play group and blossoms when he is around other dogs! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
