Adopt ~ Foster ~ Rescue&#226&#128&#139AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION at CITRUS COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES shelter. adoptashelterpet.net  and  citruscritters.com Luna hit the jackpot with a great adopter but as luck would have it, a family emergency came up requiring the adopter to return Luna to the shelter. But here is what we learned through the process: Luna was excellent in the house and completely housebroken. She’s very smart and knows sit, some, down, shake, and stay. Although like most dogs ‘stay’ has never been a favorite request. Luna knows when it is time for a walk, and she freely offers her head to put her harness on. She is great on leash but will pull if her nose gets interested in other things. If she started to pull the adopter would turn and reverse directions to keep Luna focused on her and the walk. She barks to alert you of strangers at the door but once they are in, she is friendly. Just a brief correction and Luna will stop barking. The adopter used tools like a shaker bottle (empty Gatorade bottle with rocks) and a water spray bottle. Just a very quick rattle or spray was all that is needed. Luna is sensitive and harsh words or any other correction methods would be too severe. She responds to love and praise. She loves attention and ear scratches, and belly rubs are her absolute favorites. She loves toys and especially likes chasing the extra-large stuffed toys. She does not tear them up but enjoys shaking them. She’s not a huge fan of treats but really enjoys a Greenies dental treat in the evenings. Luna is a masterclass lap cuddler. She was raised with kids and other dogs. Her previous guardian said she preferred the female dogs over the males but liked everyone in the household. She is playful and affectionate. Her favorite activities besides fetch and chase games in the pool. She loves the water! She has done well in doggie play groups. Luna is 7 years old and weighs 48 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated.Come meet her at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL 34450.
