To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see  HERE Age: 3 months (as of 07/29/24) Weight: 12.7 lbs (as of 08/23/24) Location: RI   This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Meet Lurch, a young Chihuahua mix whose spirit is as vibrant as his personality. His sweetness is rivaled only by his friendliness, making him a delightful companion. Lurch is a gentle soul, always ready to offer a comforting presence. His goofy antics are sure to bring a smile to your face, and his playful nature promises endless fun. He's not just all fun and games though, Lurch is also incredibly smart, quick to learn and eager to please. He has a special knack for getting along with older kids, making him a wonderful addition to families. Not to mention, he's also great with cats, a rare trait that makes him a perfect fit for multi-pet households. Being just a pup, Lurch has so much to learn! He will need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes to help them learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Lurch's charm lies in his loving personality, his zest for life, and his ability to get along with everyone he meets. Adopt Lurch and bring home not just a pet, but a friend, a companion, and a source of endless joy. Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange, and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/   **Additional info you should know – For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
