Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 3/26/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Marcy is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Marcy is a small mixed breed dog. Our best guess is perhaps a cocker spaniel / chihuahua mix. Only a DNA test will tell. She's 100% cute. Marcy is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 14.1 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: We believe that Marcy is spayed. She has a scar that indicates she may be. However, we do not have documentation, and we do not do exploratory surgery to confirm as it is difficult on the dog. Marcy will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum which acknowledges that IF she is not spayed and goes into a heat cycle, you will be responsible for spaying her and providing evidence of the spay. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, Marcy is an agile little girl and can scale a fence. What kind of home would be best for me? Marcy is a shy, timid girl with a sweet spirit who's looking for a kind and patient adopter to give her the loving forever home she deserves. She arrived in rescue via a breeder where she had very little socialization during her first 2 years of life. Everything is new. Marcy is still learning that people can be gentle, caring, and safe. She's not used to being handled affectionately, but she’s making progress every day. Marcy will thrive in a quiet home with someone who can offer consistent patience, compassion, and love. She isn't comfortable walking on a leash yet. Marcy’s petite size makes her a great fit for a variety of living situations — whether you live in an apartment or a house. She’d do best with someone who is home most of the time, able to offer her the attention and reassurance she needs. Because of her shy nature, she will not be placed in a home with young children. Kids aged 10 and up who understand how to gently interact with a small, timid dog may be a good fit. Marcy has so much potential but is going to take time. She requires an experienced adopter with the confidence and patience to teach a shy dog that humans are okay.  What is my personality like? Marcy is a young dog with so much potential. She's had very little real-life experience but has a gentle forgiving demeanor that we know will blossom as she builds trust and confidence in her new home. Marcy is comfortable around other small dogs but hasn’t yet been tested with larger dogs or cats.  Marcy has always lived with other small dogs.  She has no idea how to live without other dogs.   Marcy is learning and growing each day. She’s not fully house-trained yet, so regular potty breaks and a predictable routine will help her learn where and when to do her business. While she’s starting to trust the people caring for her here, she longs for a quiet home where she can receive the one-on-one attention she truly needs. Routine and patience are key for this girl. One thing we have found Marcy loves – Toys!! She will happily sit and play with toys while other dogs play around her. Her forever home MUST have a large toy box with all the soft toys this girl's heart could desire. Despite her fears, you can see how much Marcy wants to connect. If you gently place her in your lap, she’ll settle in and enjoy being petted, her beautiful brown eyes gazing up at you — eyes that will melt your heart. If you can offer her patience, kindness, and a calm environment, Marcy will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. It won’t happen overnight — but the reward of earning her trust and love will be worth every moment. How do I act when I first meet new people? Marcy is wary of strangers and won’t approach right away. She may run or hide at first. But if you sit quietly and wait, she’ll soon allow you to pick her up — and once she’s in your lap, she’ll enjoy every moment of being loved. Other tips and tidbits: Marcy was born on or about 3/26/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
