Name: Mark Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of October 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 26 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! He’s lived peacefully with a cat at his foster’s house but we always recommend slow introductions. We haven’t seen him with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home What My Foster Says About Me: He is THE BEST BOY. Like Mary Poppins, he is practically perfect in every way. He is sweet, playful and respectful of our resident dogs as well as our cat. He loves people, cuddling on the couch, treats and meal time. He’s an easy going, enthusiastic little sweetheart! About Mark: Mark is a sweet, happy-go-lucky boy bursting with young-dog energy and affection. He’s been an absolute star in his foster home: no accidents in the house, wonderfully well-behaved, and genuinely good with everyone he meets — dogs, cats, and we think he’d be good with kids too. If friendliness were an Olympic sport, Mark would be taking home the gold. This energetic guy would thrive with a playful canine sibling who can keep up with his “let’s play ALL day” enthusiasm, or with adopters open to doggy daycare to help him burn off that joyful energy. When it comes to life, Mark is always a yes — yes to car rides, yes to long walks, yes to adventures of any kind. Loyal, confident, and easygoing in every setting we’ve seen him in, Mark would be perfectly at home tagging along on road trips, strolling the farmers market, or lounging beside you at outdoor dining spots on warm evenings. And when the day winds down, Mark knows how to switch gears — he’s a total cuddler who’s happiest snuggled up next to you on the couch, soaking in some well-earned downtime. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who’s ready to be your shadow by day and your snuggle buddy by night, Mark might just be your perfect match. What Shelter Staff Say About Me: Mark is such a sweet and happy boy! His tail is always wagging. He did so great at playgroup with all of the big obnoxious dogs. Heartworm treatment: Mark is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Mark has completed this activity restriction period. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
