NCQ Heartworm PositiveI can be adopted before April 6th. On April 6th I will start Heartworm treatment and will stay with my foster family until completed. I am heartworm positive. My adoption fee is $300 (card $309), because I am a medical case or am heartworm positive, which includes: Annual distemper booster Rabies Spay/neuter Microchip *** The rescue will pay for the injections for heartworm treatment at Shoreline Vet. Hospital in Jacksonville. My adopter would be responsible for the take home meds which average about $200, depending on size, over the 4-month span of treatment. How is he with other pets and kids? Dogs: Very submissive and easygoing—great for homes with other dogs Kids: Adores them Cats: Cat-friendly! He doesn’t mind cats—he’s just a little scared of them and prefers to give them respectful space ️ What is his energy level? Very low energy. Meatball is not a hiking buddy—he’s a couch companion. His dream day includes naps, cuddles, and being your calm shadow. ❤️ Why is he heartworm positive? Is that scary? Meatball is heartworm positive, but No Collar Queens covers his heartworm treatment. Adopters only need to cover his take-home medications. Many dogs go through treatment successfully and live normal, happy lives. When can he go to his forever home? If adopted before April 6, he can go home once cleared by the vet (before his first treatment injection). If not adopted by April 6, he will stay with his foster until treatment is complete on June 26 to avoid stress during treatment. Is he available now? YES! Meatball has finished his medications for pneumonia and has put on some much-needed weight. He is currently on Doxycycline to prep for heartworm treatment and still needs to continue gaining weight.
