Magic Merlin is a sweetheart and a snuggle bug looking for a mellow home. He's so great, he deserves his own show: "Everybody Loves Merlin!" Merlin is all about spending time with his people, and once he is comfortable in his space he will never be far from your side. He loves pets and belly rubs, and will snuggle next to you any chance he gets. This affectionate little guy will happily be your movie companion and coworker. If you work from home, he loves a comfy little spot near your desk, and will occasionally hop on calls with you to make sure the boss is treating you right! Don’t think that Merlin is just a couch potato though! At about 4 years old, he is in his prime and loves to play. He gets especially excited about chasing lures and wand toys, giving him a chance to show off his impressive vertical jumps! Merlin does need help managing his health, and is on a prescription diet to support his kidneys' health, as he has mild kidney disease. He is also FIV positive, and has an autoimmune condition known as Pillowfoot, which if left untreated can cause swelling or cracks on the paw pads. These conditions are permanent, but are well controlled with medication and his diet. Mixing his meds in with his wet food once a day keeps Merlin in prime snuggling shape! He loves his treats and food, but is respectful about waiting for mealtimes. Once he sees the food come out he gets excited and vocal, and isn’t shy about letting you know the food in your hands is better off safe in his tummy. Merlin came to PAWS as a stray, and we aren't sure if he has previously lived with other pets or children. Merlin will go home with a THREE MONTH CARE PACKAGE, including his medication and special diet! Age: ~4-6 years old How I came to PAWS: found stray Animal ID#: A179403 Location: foster care. Please email adopt.merlin.paws@gmail.com to learn more about this kitty! **FIV is specific to the feline species, and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. It is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting. _____________________________________ To adopt a cat, complete the application at phillypaws.org/catapp. To adopt a dog, complete the application at phillypaws.org/dogapp. To adopt a small animal, complete the application at phillypaws.org/small-animal-adoption-application.
