Critter Details

Hi, I'm Midnight. I'm a young bearded dragon looking for my new home. I love chasing crickets and mealworms, and eating my salad which will help me grow into a healthy and strong adult. Will you come meet me today? Bearded dragons are curious, docile and friendly creatures. They are able to recognize their owners and will eventually become more relaxed over time. Bearded dragons can tolerate daily handling and can even enjoy perching on their owner's shoulders. It is important that when committing to take care of an exotic animal for the entirety of its life that you are prepared for that commitment. Bearded dragons can live 6-10 years with proper care. Exotic animals require annual vet exams much like a dog or cat. The size of the enclosure depends on the age and size of the bearded dragon. Proper temperatures in the tank are extremely important. As with other reptiles, a temperature gradient should be provided for your bearded dragon, as well as a basking spot. The gradient should go from 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit on the cool side, up to a basking temperature of around 95 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Exposure to UV lighting is extremely important for pet bearded dragons. Bearded dragons should be fed once every 24 hours and can eat a combination of insects and vegetables with an occasional treat.
