Name: Milo         Best Guess for Breed:  Shih tzu and dachshund mix  Best Guess for Age:   8 months as of December 2025         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:   18 lbs as of 11/22/25 – he still has a bit more to grow!   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven’t seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   Puerto Rico shelter – needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Milo would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Milo is Looking For:  His forever home! Milo is a sato, from Puerto Rico. He had an owner and was surrendered through no fault of his own. He’s fine with that though – shelter staff told him he was coming to the DC area and would get his own humans here!   He’s a young boy, hasn’t seen nearly enough of the world, and is eager to burn all that awesome young-dog energy on sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures his family can dream up. Making pup pals would be great too. But you know what he wants most of all? To be safe and loved, to know where he belongs. What do you say? Is that by your side?
