Critter Details

MOUSE arrived at the shelter the day after the Fourth of July. So, she may have gotten loose by accident, but no one has come to claim her! Go figure! She is listed as an 8 to 10 week old Jack Russell terrier mix and she is white with black markings. She weighed only 17 pounds at Intake. So, in all likelihood she will grow to be at least a medium size dog, even if it is on the small side of medium. She is sweet and gentle and oh so pretty! MOUSE still needs to be spayed before she can go home with you as your own. So keep that in mind. Staff will get it done as quickly as possible once she is adopted if they have not already found a way to get it done by the time of her actual adoption. For all of you who wonder from time to time, NO – you are not buying a dog when you go to the shelter. The animal itself is free – the adoption fee pays for the cost of the spay or neuter surgery and the rabies vaccine that is given if the animal is old enough to receive one. In truth, the county animal shelter (taxpayer) loses money on most adoptions because the cost of having the surgery done at most places exceeds the cost of the adoption fee required by the county. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!
