Meet Nani, our resident sweet and occasionally spicy cat.  Nani is a good looking, calm and affectionate cat.  She’ll purr when you pet her, curl up nearby for a nap, and be the peaceful companion you didn’t know you needed.   Once someone’s pet, Nani was abandoned and left to survive outdoors. She’s tough because she had to be, but deep down, she still wants what we all do: safety, comfort, and someone who won’t let her down again. She's currently living with a kind foster family, but the three resident dogs and two other cats are not her cup of tea.  She’s already tried to escape twice—squeezing through the dog door and disappearing for days. Thankfully, she was found both times, but she’s made her point: she just wants a quiet home to chill.    Nani is calm, quiet, and happiest in a peaceful, dog-free home where she can live 100% indoors. She enjoys her space, appreciates a comfy nap spot, and will accept affection—on her terms. If you cross the line (like petting her when she’s  clearly  over it), she may give you a little nip. But don’t take it personally—she’s just setting boundaries.  She can be trusted around young kids.  She is gentle.  You just don't want to smother her if she's not in the mood.   Most of Dexter's Kitties are fixed, chipped, SNAP combo tested and vaccinated for their age. The adoption fee is $125 for a kitten, $200 for two kittens. If you rent your home, we respectfully ask for your landlord or management company's information to confirm pets are allowed. If you own your home, we will check public records to confirm.      If the cat is still on our website, that means the cat is still currently available. If you have questions, your inquiries will be given priority if you submit an application at  www.DextersKitties.org . We are a volunteer team and try to respond as quickly as time allows.    And finally please remember that cats can live more than 20+ years, so this is a LIFE TIME commitment.  Please make sure you have the financial resources to cover emergency vet bills if your cat gets sick, a stable home, and someone to take the cat(s) if something heaven forbid happens and you can no longer care for them.  Thank you for adopting a rescue cat!
