Nix, 5 yr old female Cleveland, NY Get your hearts and laps ready for sweet Lady Nix! Nixie girl is looking for her forever people and she would like to offer smiles, friendship and unconditional love! This girl is a well balanced blend of beauty and leisure. She is on the lower end of the energy spectrum, needing just a short while of activity daily. She is happy to play fetch in the yard or do some scent work (she’s really very good at it!) and then spend the rest of her time following you around or keeping your lap warm. And honestly who couldn’t use a friendly lap warmer with these northeast winters?? We believe Nix would thrive her best in a moderately quiet home. She does need to warm up to people briefly but will want to be your friend especially after a couple little treat bribes! While we do think Nix can coexist with other dogs with proper introductions and training, she would need some confidence building for that to happen. As far as training, she is very food motivated so that definitely helps! Nixie’s ideal home would have a fenced yard and no cats. Her recall is very good but if given the opportunity she would probably want to chase kitties and outdoor critters. Nix has been around chickens but again, they seem like something fun she thinks she should be chasing. She does walk well on leash but consistent leash walking and continued training would polish her skills in no time. Pretty girl Nix came into rescue ready to deliver a litter of puppies. Her pups have all been adopted and now it’s momma’s turn to get her soft forever landing. Nix is estimated to be about 5 years old, she’s very smart, inquisitive, loves being with her people, house trained, microchipped, fully vetted, spayed, current on heartworm, flea and tick prevention.  She does great in a crate both at home and for car rides. We can handle her all over, she is such a good girl even when it comes to touching her ears and toes, not all dogs do well with that but Nix doesn’t mind at all!  Nix has not been around children since being in foster so we do not know how she is with littles. Though based on her personality we think she could be ok with dog savvy children, preferably at least 6 or older.  If you have any questions please reach out to her foster mom at  kbinkie2@hotmail.com Complete an Application  https://www.acdra.org/adoption-application
