Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! NYLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Nyla      Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age:  7 years as of January 2026        SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:  9.4 lbs    Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven’t seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Nyla is Looking For:  Her forever home! Nyla is a sato – a dog from Puerto Rico. She’s eager to get her fresh start with her own humans in the DC area. See, you know what she wants most of all? To know she’s safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  ‘Nyla is such a loving pup! When I sit on the sofa, she jumps over to me and is all about belly rubs and snuggles. If I’m walking around, she’s right there, wanting to be with me. While I work, though, she is content to curl up on the sofa. She gets along well with my two dogs – they all have mild interest in each other and coexist peacefully.  She was confident in my home from the time she arrived, happily sniffing around. She’s fed in her crate and stays there overnight and when I’m out of the house. But her favorite place is definitely the sofa – she chooses that every time. And she loves her meals and treats!Nyla doesn’t have much experience on leash yet but is willing to learn and follow. Practicing that skill will be easier when the temperature rises. It hasn’t gone over 30 yet while she’s been here and she shivers when outside even with a coat. Can’t blame her – it was 82 degrees when she left Puerto Rico in January. She’s such a loving and calm older pup who has so much affection to give her humans. Her family and she will be very lucky to have each other.’ Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
