Cat-Friendly!!  Not a furniture/counter jumper!!  Meet Olive, the odd-color eyed beauty! Her striking eyes are completely different colors; one emerald green, the other deep turquoise blue. The technical term for odd-colored eyes is heterochromia iridium, where each iris is a different color. This is an extremely rare trait and usually only occurs on cats with white coats. Listed on the rarity scale of 1-10, odd-colored eyes are a “9”.  The trait does not affect her eyesight or hearing and she is perfectly healthy.   Not only is Olive a “9” on the eye color scale, she’s a “10” on the sweetness scale. She is friendly and gentle, always wanting be near her people.  She likes a warm lap, but is also content resting on a soft rug or under a bed. Unlike most kitties, she’s doesn’t jump up on furniture, chairs, or counters! She’s also not a furniture-scratcher, preferring to use a scratching pad when the urge arises.  Olive’s personality is gentle and ladylike. She pretends to think playing is just for silly kittens, yet when her people are out of sight she’ll hunt a toy mouse and gleefully paw it, toss it in the air, and chase it across the floor. With some time, she’ll likely become more responsive to interactive play, but for now, she’s perfectly content to play alone. Olive is very responsive to the human voice, and happily comes when you call her name.  Olive’s young life has been a difficult one.  She apparently was loved as a kitten, taken in and given a good life. Unfortunately, like so many cats, once she outgrew the  “cute kitten stage”, she was cruelly discarded and put out, unprepared and without being spayed, onto the brutal city streets.  Unskilled at fending for herself, she struggled to survive.  Suffering from hunger, thirst, and the relentless stalking and harassing from the neighborhood’s feral un-neutered males.  By the time she was finally rescued, Olive had already given birth to a least two litters of kittens (the last litter was rescued and are now in forever homes). Now that her nightmare is finally over, and she’s safe in the comfort of her foster home, it’s time for sweet Olive to have a forever home of her own where she’ll be loved and spoiled, as she so deserves.  Olive is okay around other cats when introduced properly. She hasn’t been around children yet but is fine around any adult and would likely be just as fine with kids.  We don’t know how she’ll react to dogs, but with her calm nature, she’d likely be fine with a gentle dog.   Olive tested ‘Light Positive Line for FIV.’  FIV+ cats can live and play with FIV- cats.  Please check out the quick facts sheet.
